Whispered interpreting is a type of translation during which the translator translates simultaneously for a small group of recipients sitting or standing close to each other. This technique is most commonly during bilateral meetings or in groups, in which the delegates do not speak a common language.
The interpreter whispers so as not to disturb the meeting. Due to the specificities of whispered interpreting, the interpreter has to sit or stand just next to the recipients of the interpreting service.
The interpreter can also use headphones to hear the speaker better.
